On that note, we decided to put together a ranking of Big Ten basketball championships broken out by school. Some so-called football schools have held their own in hoops. With conference teams doing battle with each other, you may be surprised to know which programs have risen up to take the conference crown at times. There are iconic players, teams and coaches throughout its storied history.
The Big Ten might have a historical stereotype as a football conference, but it has a great tradition in basketball as well.
